My Birthday!

Well today is a happy day for me!
It's my birthday and I am now . . .

I never thought I'd make it!

20, boy, now I feel so old!

in 10 yrs I'll be 30!

But, anyways. . .

I hope you all have a great day too!

At our house, the tradition is for the birthday person to be "King/Queen" for a day.
This means that the birthday person gets special treatment, like sleeping in!

Well, last night I was all excited and looked forward to "sleeping in."

But, at 6:30 this morning I had a little hand tap my head, "Happy Birthday Baca!" (another rendition of my name "Rebecca") it was my little brother, Caleb. "Thanks Buddy,"

So off to sleep I went again, or tried to any ways. I have 7 siblings!
So I had several visitors. :)

(That's one of the joys of having many siblings on your birthday! They just love you soooooo much, and you get alot of "Happy Birthdays" sung at you!)

I didn't mind all the little visits, even though I was trying to "sleep in", I got tons of hugs and kisses and "Good Morning Birthday-Girl" shouts!

After I "woke up" my younger siblings surrounded me and handed me "presents" wrapped in their blankets. I got a few of their toys and a bobble head M&M!
But their best gifts were a huge hug and a big wet kiss!

My younger siblings! They were playing dress-up when we got this pic!

So, that's how the day has begun!

God bless you all!

Psalm 40- - Illustrated

One of my favorite passages of scripture! Enjoy!

Psalms 40

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.

1 I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

5 Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.
Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,
I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.
I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.
Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.
Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.
Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.

Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.

17 But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

Dreaming of Spring

Brrrrr!It is cold out!
Where I live the weather can't seem to make up it's mind!
it snows, rains, snows, rains, snows, rains.
I don't know if I should make a sled, or build an ark!
Icicles are everywhere, the one pictured below was 2' long!

But, my dear "Aunt" Pam reminded me of the good things in the winter! I'll list a few!

1. It isn't humid
2. No lawn care to bother with.
3. No mosquitoes!!!!!

Now, No. 3 is my personal favorite!
I can't stand those little mosquitoes! Especially because I'm a mosquito magnet!

My dear Auntie's conclusion:

Be content, no need to grumble!

Thanks Aunt Pam!

At least I can still dream of being "content" in the spring!

Philippians 4:11
Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

Best Friend

Friendship . . . . it is such a wonderful thing.
You do things together, talk together, laugh together, and just enjoy each other!
Friendships are irreplaceable, as are Good Friends!

I find that when I meet someone new, if we "hit it right off the bat" in our first chat we quickly become friends. . .others might take longer- but are worth the extra effort to get them out of their shell!

There are different types of friendship, each special in it's own right.

There are your acquaintances - people you talk to, and enjoy but you don't really get to know very well.

There are your friends - you know these people much better. Generally there are alot of these!

Then there are best friends!- A special few whose company you enjoy, you know alot about them, and you know just what to say to make them laugh! You want to share you latest discoveries, or secret. These "Best Friends" make life interesting.

Now some people assume that "Best Friends" had to be near your age, and were not relatives.

I believed the same thing for a while, until I met a young lady at my Church's college.

I was talking to her one day, and I mentioned how it seemed that she and her brother were very close. She made an amazing thrilling statement " Well, he's my best friend,"

Something clicked in my brain at that very moment!

What a profound statement! I thought, "your brother...your best friend???"

I had never looked at it that way before, I mean, come on! Brothers were just annoying teasing pests right?

I liked what she had said. I wanted my brothers to be my best friends too! So, I decided to try out a little experiment with one of my brothers.
I began to really work hard to befriend my little brother, Collin.
I began to talk more to him, and allow him to borrow my things. I began to try to think of nice things to say, especially when a rebuke was on my tongue.

6 moths later I am proud to say that our relationship has drastically changed. He is one of my best friends now!

Before he wouldn't hug me or have anything nice to say. . . now he comes up to me and gives me a great big sqeezy hug, often just because HE wants too! And he had plenty of nice things to say.

So, I am still working on it.

I am trying now to work with my other brothers and sisters.

But, now come the best part.

I am challenging all of my readers who have siblings to improve your relationships! If I could do it, you can too!

Let me know how it turns out!

This is me and Tabbie, the young lady who I will always cherish! And the one who sparked my journey into turning my brother into a best friend.

Thanks so much Tabbie!

Frugal Friday : Fun Dino Craft

What do you do with all those empty laundry soap bottles hanging around? Throw them away? No! Inside those little bottles is a Dinosaur waiting to be born!

So, We are going to make a dinosaur craft/toy out of a couple of ALL laundry soap bottles! Completely Frugal and completely free, (not to mention better then throwing them away!) Don't think I can? Just wait and see!

First, remove the wrapper of an empty bottle. ANY bottle with a similar shape works great! Wash out the inside really good. (if you don't rinse it out really well you are going to have a BIG mess! Believe me!)
Also, this craft requires parental assistance!!

Next, make 2 marks with a marker like so on both sides of 1 bottle. The top mark is for the arms, the bottom for the legs.

Draw a leg template on a piece of paper. On a 2nd bottle trace the template.

With a craft knife or a good pair of scissors cut out the leg peice, cut out a 2nd from the other side of the bottle. (don't forget to give him a left and right leg! so flip the paper template over!)

OK, with what is left of the 2nd bottle- make a paper arm template, trace and cut.

So, we now attach the arms and legs to the 1rst bottle with the 2 marks. We do this by first drilling a small hole through the leg/arm and body and then drilling a screw. Does it look more like a dinosaur?

Using the remains of the 2nd bottle trace and cut out a tail shape. Screw it on , for extra strength I taped it on too. Although not shown, I also taped this little guys legs too.

The head is up to you! I used more bottle parts and kind of taped it on and"into" a head shape!

OK! Now we are ready to paint! Do whatever you want, or whatever your child wants! This part is more kid-friendly! depending on the paint you use, it will chip off. If you wrap the whole Dino with tape this will be less likely to happen! Glue on some googly eyes for a really great "look!"

So here is the finished project! Isn't he cute???

My little brother, Matt, actually won a contest for "Most Realistic Dino!"

So, start crafting!!

God Bless, Rebecca!

Back to School -part 3 "Finding time to Study"

Before I begin I thought you would all enjoy seeing these pictures. . .
My little brother took them today.

This is how one studies for a test when one has 7 siblings!

Allrighty! I'm studying for a big test on Monday, I have one sister in my arms, a sleeping brother's feet on my lap, and there I am reading away! Nary a problem!

Katelyn is making it quite clear that "New Testament Survey" is NOT her idea of fun!

I must say, she was a VERY good girl (for the most part) she sat quietly . . .
Then she started being a little silly!

I'm smiling, and Kate's, well I'm not sure what exactly she was doing. . .

Isn't that smile of her's cute?

Whew! All that studying makes me tired!
(Katey didn't like me closing my eyes, she kept saying, "Backy! Turn your eyes on!"
(p.s. "Backy" is her version of "Rebecca")

Sometimes I do end up in interesting situations when I study . . . but I also can find a good amount of Quiet times to study. Today was a bit of an exception I suppose!
I can study quite easily in a house full of laughing, shouting siblings. And my grades are A's and B's.

Some times I just have to wait till after they go to bed to do intense studying. But I find that attending this night school is beneficial, it doesn't affect our normal schedule very much. I also enjoy having something to do with myself that adds a bit of variety to regular household duties, teaching/playing with my siblings, cooking, cleaning, blogging, reading, drawing, etc. It is kind of like a hobby I guess. Wouldn't learning be an excellent hobby?!

Of late I have been considering to either graduate with a (one year) Bible certificate out of the night school. Or to transfer to an all day Bible college at my church in the fall for the Bible certificate, or to continue in the night school one more year and then transfer!

Confused? Yes, so am I!

So, I have been praying and praying and praying and praying and ....

Well, you get the idea!

If you are willing to pray for me too, will you leave a comment and let me know?

God Bless!

Meet Stephanie

Stephanie is the most creative 10 yr old in our house!
Sweet as cake, and with a far too large doll collection (my opinion anyways!) she is always ready to smile.
We share a bedroom, (hence my opinion about the dolls!) so I have little fairy drawings, dolls, crayons, books and toys all over the place!

This is one of her best photos! We had curled her hair for Easter and it came out really nice!
The dress she is wearing used to be mine!

This would have been cute! But she decided to start laughing!
(note we are both wearing yellow! She often tries to mimic what I'm wearing)

I love this one! Stephie and I are 10 yrs apart. But we still can have a lot of fun together. She is special to me, because I prayed for a sister and in 1999 I finally had one!

Always a great big sister! Stephie and Caleb are at our church.
Stephanie loves going to church!

This was an artistic twist on a sweet photo! She looked so pixie-ish! I couldn't resist editing this one. Best part is she loves it!
